Hi Hillary!
I can’t think of a better way to celebrate birthdays than at the Walt Disney World Resort…especially first birthdays!
When you make a room request (such as requesting a room with a King Bed) they really do everything in their power to accommodate your request. Please do remember that specific requests are not guaranteed. I do know that there are adjoining/connecting rooms however they will try to accommodate your request but it is not guaranteed. What I would do is when you make your reservation ask for these requests to be put on to your reservation.
When traveling with young children, the keys to a successful vacation is come prepared with snacks, small toys or books in case of a melt down for distraction, and keep to a schedule. Do not try to cram too many things into one day. Make a list of your top five “must-do’s” and tackle these first each day. If you have time and energy for more than that is great but if you find yourself feeling stressed and exhausted…it’s ok, just take a break. When we travel we always make sure to schedule in nap time.
Take advantage of the Baby Care Centers located in each of the four Theme Parks. They are a wonderful place for feeding, changing diapers, and cooling off. Don’t underestimate the power of taking a dip in the pool. Disney’s Pop Century Resort has a great small splash area that is just perfect for little ones. Check out the
Planning for Pre-School Kids & Little One’s section of the Disney website. They offer great advice and helpful hints for a successful trip with kids.
Lastly make sure to stop and take in the magic. There are many magical moments to be had and sometimes if we are traveling at the speed of light, we don’t get to enjoy those moments!
I hope your kids have a pixie dusted first visit!
