We are staying at pop in oct want to do the dining plan but are unsure my kids are 10 & 11 & are fussy will they b allowed to eat of the kids menu? we don't get to disney till 10pm the 1st day so how does the dining plan work?

    Hi Lorna,

I think you'll appreciate the flexibility and cost-efficacy of the Disney Dining Plan.  At ages ten and eleven, your children will be considered adults on the Disney Dining Plan.  They would be permitted to order from the kids' menu but that is not a cost-effective way to use the plan.  Instead, I would either have them try something from the full menu or pay out-of-pocket for the kids' meals and save those Disney Dining Plan credits for another time later in the trip.

It sounds like it may be worthwhile for you to visit allears.net before your holiday.  This unofficial Disney fan site has current menus posted for all the restaurants at Walt Disney World.  Show your children the menus and ask them if there's anything there they would enjoy.  That will help you make an informed choice regarding whether the Disney Dining Plan is a good fit for your family.

If you do choose the Disney Dining Plan, the number of credits you receive will depend upon the length of your stay and the specific plan you choose.  You will get an allotment of credits for your first night even though you'll be checking in late but there is no requirement that you use those credits that day.  You can use your credits in any order and at any time between your check-in time and midnight on the day you check out.  You can use all your credits or none of your credits in any given day.  Thus, I think you'll find the plan to be incredibly flexible.

Let us know if you need any more information regarding the Disney Dining Plan.  We'd be happy to answer whatever questions you have.

Best wishes for a vacation sprinkled with extra pixie dust!
