I'm so glad to see you back at planDisney, Holly! Thanks for trusting us over the years with your Disney vacation planning questions! I'm happy to help you.
Oh, how I can relate to this question. I have brought my teens to
Walt Disney World Resort on multiple occasions, where we have enjoyed such a magical time at the parks until...we arrive back at our resort, and they have to (gasp!) share a bed. The magic fades quickly, and I end up questioning my life's choices. So, let's talk about your options.
I love
Disney's Pop Century Resort! I could list many reasons, but topping the list is the fact that it's a value resort hotel with access to
Disney's Skyliner. One downside is that the rooms are relatively small. At approximately 260 square feet, there's not a lot of extra room for an air mattress. I spoke with a Cast Member about bringing one, and he told me it wouldn't fit. I asked if you could try, and he just assured me that it wouldn't fit. My opinion is that a twin air mattress would probably fit, but it would be tight. You would need to put it away during the day to be able to get around and to allow for mousekeeping to clean.
Consider changing resorts. I realize that this would likely mean a cost increase, but I believe you would get more than your money's worth in family harmony. You could try a family suite at
Disney's All-Star Music Resort or
Disney's Art of Animation Resort. These rooms have a pull-down bed and a sleeper sofa in addition to the queen-size bed in a separate bedroom. They also have a second bathroom and kitchenette! You could save some money by having breakfast in your room!
There are two moderate resorts that offer select rooms with a 5th sleeper. It is an extra bed that tends to be best for a child or a small adult. They also have a bit more space. These are
Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort and
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside. If you decide to make a change and need assistance with finding availability, feel free to reach out to
Walt Disney World Resort Tickets and Hotel Reservations so a Cast Member can help you.
I genuinely think this is a great age to take your kids to Walt Disney World. They are under so much pressure and don't often have the opportunity to enjoy being a kid. Disney is the perfect place for
all of you to do just that.
Holly, it's going to be a magical vacation no matter what you do. Plan to wear those kids out, and they'll be too tired to care where they're sleeping! If there's anything else we can help with here at planDisney, I hope you'll let us know!
Always dreaming -
Elizabeth
