Hey there, Ross!
Welcome to planDisney! You’re in for a real blast from the past at
Disney’s Pop Century Resort. It’s one of my family’s all-time favorites for a groovy, budget-friendly stay that still packs in tons of magic and style! I’m so excited you’re hoping to stay in the 1950s section.
Now here’s the scoop: some rooms in the 50s section are actually considered "preferred," which means they’re in primo locations, closer to Classic Hall (that’s the lobby, dining, and bus stop area) and the
Hippy Dippy Pool. Specifically, buildings 1 and 3 in the 50s are in that preferred category, and yes, those do cost a bit more per night. It’s a small splurge, but super convenient if you want to zip to the food court or be first in line for the bus to the parks!
If you’ve already booked a standard room, you can still request the 50s section, but just know it’ll likely place you in building 2, which is a bit farther from the action (but still charming!). Want to bump up to a preferred room? Depending on how you booked your visit, you can do that through your
My Disney Experience account under your reservation, by giving a friendly Cast Member a ring, or by contacting your travel agent if you booked through one.
When I stayed there with my daughter, she was OBSESSED with the bowling pin pool and giant Lady statue. We had the best time just walking around and taking silly photos. And don’t miss out on the
special resort activities. They are always a big hit with my kids! They feel like they’re in on the Disney secrets at the resort.
Wishing you a swingin’ stay at Pop and fingers crossed you score that perfect room. You’ve got style, you’ve got magic, and now you’ve got the inside scoop too.
Stay magical,
Emille
