We will be staying at the Pop Century resort from May 1-7. Is this a busy time of year? Also, we are bringing my son for his 1st of many(hopefully) trips, just before his 2nd b-day. Can you suggest anything age appropriate for him? He loves Mickey.

    Hi Lindsey,

Your son and I would get along quite nicely.  I love Mickey, too!

My sister's family has found that the first week of May is a wonderful time to visit the Disney theme parks because most children around the country are still in school so park attendance levels are quite reasonable.  In fact, she told me that there were very few lines at attractions while they were there.  Sounds like you have selected a lovely time to visit.

Now, let's consider how we can get your little boy some quality mouse-time during your vacation.  I would suggest you book a meal at Chef Mickey's in Disney's Contemporary Resort.  While you dine there, Mickey and friends will come over to your table to visit.  It is an exceptional time to get precious photos with Mickey and your son.  You could also look for Mickey right after opening time at the Magic Kingdom.  He is often there to give autographs and have pictures taken in the area on Main Street USA right after you enter the park.  Check the Time Guides for each theme park as you enter for suggestions as to where specific characters can be found.

I hope your son has a magical time on his first trip to Walt Disney World!  I'll be thinking of him and sending extra pixie dust his way.
