Staying at Pop Century Feb 2014. Do they have mini fridges available? Microwave access? Also wondered what temperature ranges might be for packing. First Disney trip for my boys (15/9) and hubs. So excited as they don't know yet!!! Thanks

    Hi Tara,

How much longer are you going to keep the secret!? So much excitement!

Every room at Pop Century normally is equipped with a small refrigerator, but Walt Disney World removed the mini-fridges from most  resorts this summer because of a manufacturer's defect . They are systematically replacing them. The process was expected to take at least four months.

When I was at Pop Century three weeks ago, the room still was without a refrigerator, but I hope the replacements will arrive before your visit.

And, yes, there are microwaves available for guest use in the food court area at Pop Century.

Those are the easy questions. Weather is a bit tougher to predict. Highs average in the low 70s with lows around 50. But it is not unheard of for temperatures to drop into the 30s at night occasionally in February. It is the month when we often get our coldest weather here in Central Florida.

So, this far in advance, I would guess that you would want jeans and maybe a long-sleeved t-shirt for daytime with a sweatshirt or hoodie for evening. I would keep an eye on the forecast just before you leave to be sure you don't need a heavier coat or gloves. Even the 40s at night here can feel pretty cold.

The pools are heated, and I once saw people swimming at Pop Century on a morning when I had to scrape frost off my windshield. You won't find this Florida girl in the water then, but your family may be more adventurous.

I hope that helps. My family stays at Pop Century often, so we think you've made a great choice. Please let me know if I can answer any other questions for you as you make your plans. And enjoy the look on your family's faces when you let them in on the surprise!
