Aloha, Kacey!
I'm so excited to hear you've planned a magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation, with a stay at
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. It truly feels like you're in the South Pacific as you walk through the resort - the lighted tiki torches that line the walking paths are my favorite detail to see every evening! Set to reopen this summer, the resort has been undergoing a Moana-inspired makeover in the Guest rooms and a lobby update as well. I'm so excited to see the changes!
The refurbishment plan for the resort has also included the monorail station, which has been closed since November. During this time, Guests have two
transportation options to travel to
Magic Kingdom Park - Bus Transportation or a Water Taxi across
Seven Seas Lagoon. Guests may also choose to walk to the Ticket and Transportation Center if they wish to board a monorail. (The monorail station at the Polynesian Village Resort is slated to reopen in July 2021, but this date is always subject to change.)
If you choose a Water Taxi as your mode of transportation, bag and temperature checks will be done once you reach the dock at Magic Kingdom Park. They have really streamlined the security checkpoints, and made the process so seamless! Boat transportation from the Polynesian Resort begins 45 minutes before park opening. If you want to be one of the first through the gates, I'd advise heading down to the boat dock
at least thirty minutes before they begin boarding to get in line.
For your return trip to your resort, keep in mind that the Water Taxi will make a stop at
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa on the way over to the Polynesian Village Resort, so allow time for that extra stop if you're in a hurry to get back "home".
A big MAHALO for stopping by planDisney - I hope this advice helps add a little magic to your Walt Disney World vacation.
