I am staying at the Polynesian in December. I was wondering if you are allowed to decorate your balcony or patio with Christmas lights if you use the suction cups to attach them? I know people decorate their windows, but I did not know about balconies

Hi, Lisa! Thank you for asking this question. My family is also planning a visit to Walt Disney World Resort this December. While I thought every detail had been perfectly planned, I had not even thought of this yet! My daughters said to send you lots of pixie dust for putting this idea out there because they are having so much fun going through Christmas decorations now (and trying to talk me into bringing the tree with us)!

I spoke with a jolly Cast Member a few minutes ago and she said that Guests are more than welcome to add battery-operated light strands to the balcony as long as the exterior of the resort is not altered in any way. Suction cups are a great way to achieve this, and the Cast Member suggested just wrapping the light strands around the balcony railing. As you mentioned, Guests can also decorate their resort room windows  with clings or other festive adornments. If you find that you have more decorations than available luggage space, you can opt to mail a box of decorations to the resort a few days in advance. When addressing the package, be sure to include your name and arrival date.

Lisa, be sure to take a look at the many ways Disney Floral & Gifts could help you create a holiday celebration for your family. There are very merry baskets that can be customized and filled with your choice of holiday treats and decorations, or you could go all out with the Dreaming of a Disney Holiday In-Room Celebration.

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas, Lisa. Please let us know if we can assist you in any way as you continue to plan your trip.
