Staying at Polynesian Aug 2014. Looking for a table service restaurant for our first night in a resort somewhere near the Polynesian. Wondering about Chef Mickey and/or Whispering Canyon. Is WC meal very similar to Hoop Dee Doo?

    Hi Paula!

Welcome back!  It is nice to see a fellow Canadian heading to my favourite vacation destination!  I think both of the dining choices you are interested in are fabulous, and whichever you choose, you will be satisfied.  With that being said, both dining options are very different.  I do find the food at Whispering Canyon Cafe to be similar to the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Review, however there is more selection at Whispering Canyon Cafe and personally I find the quality of food slightly better as well.  With a Western flare, your family will enjoy some down home cooking, and for a fun treat, don't forget to ask for the ketchup!  On the other hand, Chef Mickey's is a great character dining experience, with a buffet style meal.  There is definitely excitement in the air when dining at Chef Mickey's.  If you are looking for a lower-key option, I would suggest the Wave... Of American Flavors at Disney's Contemporary Resort.  The cuisine is American with an international flare, and is absolutely delicious!  I find this dining location to be a great option for a nice relaxing meal with your family.

I hope you have a magical time this August Paula.  Please let me know if you have any other questions as you continue to plan, I would love to hear from you again!
