Hi, we are staying at POFQ for 14 nights from 4th Oct & thinking of upgrading our free Dining Plan to the Dining Plan, we are travelling with our 2 children, 4 and 10, would it be worth the extra, whats the average cost of a meal for a family 4 in Disn

    Hi, Kristy!

I have a huge favor to ask.  Please do not tell my kids you are staying at their *favorite* resort for 2 whole weeks!  They will keep asking if WE can do the same thing.  My family is a huge fan of French Quarter!

When booking with the Free Dining offer and staying at a Moderate Resort, the "base" Disney Dining Plan is included which allows (per guest/per night) 1 Table Service credit, 1 Quick Service credit, 1 Snack Credit, plus a Rapid Refill Mug good for your length of stay.

Really, you will find this to be plenty of food!  At the end of your vacation, you might need to purchase a meal or two out of pocket, but in general most of your food costs will be covered with the plan.  To jump to the Deluxe Dining Plan is a LOT of food, and with two young kids who will want to be on the go, you really will not want to spend all of your time in fine dining locations!

The cost of meals can vary from $6 for a kid's quick service meal to $45 for an adult character buffet.  It just depends on where you choose to eat.  With my family of four, when we are not on the meal plan we usually spend between $175 - $200 per day on meals.  This will go higher if we are doing a dinner show, and lower if we stick to Quick Service for the day, but that is a pretty good ballpark figure.  If you want to check out some pricing (all prices subject to change), then pop over to AllEars.net and look at their menus to see the menu pricing.

If you need more information on dining or any other topics related to your magical vacation, let me know! I would be happy to guide you through your planning.  Have a great stay in Walt Disney World!

Meet the Panelist: Cathy, Ohio

Hi, I'm Cathy from Cleveland. I love to travel, especially in the winter to escape the snow and cold of Ohio! My husband and 2 kids share my enthusiasm for travel, so we enjoy our adventures together whether it is hiking at a National Park, sailing on a Disney Cruise Ship, or going to Walt Disney World which is our home away from home. My husband proposed to me in front of Cinderella Castle and we have not stopped visiting ever since! It's a blast helping guests here at planDisney!
