We will be staying at the POFQ in August or September. We are wanting to eat dinner at a couple other resorts like the Polynesion one for the Spirit of Aloha show. Do you think we need to rent a car each day so we can go eat dinner at the other resorts?

    Hi Chelsea!

Thank you for sending in your question to the Walt Disney World Moms Panel!

It is difficult to get from Port Orleans French Quarter to any other resort except for Port Orleans Riverside using just Disney transportation.  In general, you would have to go to either Downtown Disney or a theme park first, and then transfer to a bus, boat, or monorail going to the resort you are trying to get to.

An easy option is to plan your day so that you will be close to the right location anyways.  For example, for the night you are going to the Polynesian Resort, you can plan on being in the Magic Kingdom that day and then simply go from the Magic Kingdom to the Polynesian for the Spirit of Aloha show.  Another option is to just take a taxi.  Taxis are easy to find at Walt Disney World, and in general, you can get from any point within Walt Disney World to any other point for between $10 and $20.

All of that said, I almost always have a rental car when I visit Walt Disney World.  I just like the flexibility it provides.  I drive everywhere, except possible to the Magic Kingdom only because Disney transportation does get you to the Magic Kingdom faster.  That's because you have to park at the Transportation and Ticket Center and then take the monorail or the ferryboat to the Magic Kingdom while Disney drops guests off right at the front door!

I hope this helps!  Write back if you have any more questions!
