We'll staying at PO French Quarter for New Year's Eve. Is there any spot at walking distance from there to watch fireworks from any park without entering them. We will be arriving at Orlando after a 16 hours trip and probably very tired to deal with crowds

    Hi Mercedes,

Thanks so much for your question about Disney's Port Orleans Resort French Quarter.  I visited the resort earlier this month and look forward to a stay there in a few months.  It is a lovely resort with many great attributes.  Unfortunately, it is not known for its views of Disney firework displays.  I called the resort this morning to ask Cast Members if there were any good places to view fireworks from this resort and they confirmed my suspicion; you cannot count on finding a good fireworks viewing location there or even within a short walking distance of the resort.

Could I suggest alternative viewing locations for the fireworks on New Year's Eve?  Assuming you'll be tired after your sixteen hour trip, I suggest you bypass Disney's complimentary transportation and take a taxi directly to Disney's Polynesian Resort.  Head out the back of the Great Ceremonial House to the beach.  You won't find a more romantic place to view the Fantasy in the Sky Fireworks that will begin at 11:50 pm.  That's where I'd go if I were you.

A closer option would be to take a cab to Disney's Beach Club Resort or Disney's Boardwalk Inn.  You can't see all of the 11:40 pm Illuminations show from the beach or boardwalk at this resorts, but you can catch the higher fireworks while standing along Crescent Lake.

Best wishes for a safe and magical journey!
