We will be staying at PC 12/26-12/30/13. Is it best to rely on resort transportation to and from the parks or drive ourselves? Traveling w/ my 60 yo mom and 2 yo daughter. We'll be using a stroller. Planning HS 12/27 and MK 12/28-29. Thanks for your help.

    Hi Toni,

I'm a fan of resort transportation all the way! We try never to move our car from the moment we arrive until we depart.

One of the advantages of staying at the Pop Century resort -- which my family does often --  is that the it does not share buses with other resorts. Once you climb aboard a Disney motor coach, it's a straight shot to the gates of the theme parks.

I especially advise using the Disney buses for Magic Kingdom. If you drive, you will need to take a tram from the parking lot to the Transportation and Ticket Center, then transfer to a ferry or monorail to the park. I think it's MUCH easier to step off a bus near the entrance.

You are visiting during a beautiful, but busy time of year. To make your Disney transportation experience easier, I suggest you bring a sturdy umbrella stroller that folds easily and isn't too heavy to carry as you board. And I'd advise trying to pack the smallest bag possible for the parks.

When my girls were small, I always found that it worked well to have a change of clothes, jacket, a few snacks and necessities such as diapers, wipes and sunscreen in a backpack that could be tucked into the bottom of the stroller as we walked through the parks, but could be easily slung onto my back or shoulder while we folded the stroller and boarded the bus. It always worked best to keep loose items to a minimum.

The ride from Pop to Magic Kingdom will take about 20 minutes on the bus. Hollywood Studios is much closer and only takes about 10 minutes unless there is a lot of traffic.

The buses will be crowded, too, but we've always had good luck with them running on schedule at Pop Century.

I hope that's useful. Enjoy your holidays at Walt Disney World with your family!
