we r staying outside WDW. How strict are they on the late hours for guests? If we are there, how do they make you leave? What if you want to stay til the pk closes? Can you ride the rides or do they make you show a resort id????

Actually when staying for Extra Magic Hours, guests must show a Resort ID (Key to the World card) in order to receive a wristband. At park closing, guests without wristbands will be politely ushered out of the park. You will not be able to obtain access to any parks or shows without the wristband.

In fact, we were at Typhoon Lagoon when it closed at 7 p.m. to guests but stayed open to 10 p.m. for Extra Magic Hours. I noticed the lifeguards telling those without wristbands that it was time for them to exit. They were very strict about making sure that everyone entering a slide, the lazy river, etc. had a wristband. Those that did not were asked to exit the river, for example.

If you are staying outside WDW, I would avoid the park with Extra Magic Hours as it will be increasingly busy as guests arrive for the park that is open the latest.

In fact, even as a resort guest, after touring in June by avoiding EMH parks, I am now a fan of skipping the parks with EMH. We rarely had to wait in a line longer than 15 minutes!
