Welcome, Linda!
Thank you so much for bringing your question to planDisney. We love answering questions for Guests about their Walt Disney World Resort Vacations. Staying on-site in a
Walt Disney World Resort Collection Hotel is one of my most favorite parts of visiting Walt Disney World. No matter which resort hotel you stay in, it is always magical. You always feel like you are Disney Royalty and the beds are some of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in (if you don’t believe me look through some of our planDisney
questions).
In my experience, your grandchildren will be able to visit you at your Walt Disney World Resort Collection Hotel. Last year I stayed on-site at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, and my family member (who wasn’t staying at the resort) could drop by and visit with me for a time. All he had to do was provide my room number and name to the Cast Member at the front gate and show a driver’s license. Now, if the resort parking lot is full or limited, Cast Members maybe not allow non-resort Guests to park and visit. Personally, I have not had this happen to me, but it is always a possibility. To ensure that your family can come to visit, I recommend having someone in your family book a
dining reservation for the dining location in your resort hotel. Guests with dining reservations are always welcome to park at Walt Disney World Resort Collection Hotels, and you get to visit over a delicious meal. It is a win-win!
I hope my answer was helpful, Linda and that you enjoy visiting your family and the Most Magical Place on Earth. If there is anything else I can do to help, please reach out.
Happy Planning,
Ashley F.
