We will be staying at one of the Value Resorts during first week Jan 2013. We have the 4th as possible free day. What fun is there at the resort to do that is maybe free :)? Some have been telling me to throw in at least one rest day. Your thoughts?

    Hi Julie,

I'm a big advocate of including a day of relaxation in your vacation plans.  Visiting the theme parks from sun up to sun down every single day can be exhausting.  If it is warm enough during your upcoming trip, you could always enjoy some pool time.  Stop at the Guest Services desk at your resort to pick up an activities calendar.  Each Disney resort has activities planned that you can enjoy on your day of rest.  Sometimes there are free tours, pool parties, or Disney movies.

Of course, you don't need to spend your entire day of relaxation at your home resort.  Sleep in and then head to Downtown Disney for some retail therapy or just window shopping.  It's both relaxing and fun to shop for Disney souvenirs.  Also enjoy a delicious meal or two as there are so many fabulous restaurants to enjoy at Downtown Disney.

My favorite free activity in all of Walt Disney World is to head to the beach behind Disney's Polynesian Resort at night.  You can enjoy an unparalleled view of the Wishes Nighttime Spectacular and Electrical Water Pageant from the comfort of a hammock or beach chair along the Seven Seas Lagoon and it costs absolutely nothing to take in the sights from this enchanting spot.

Wishing you and your family many magical memories this coming January!
