Hello! We are staying at Old Key West for the first time in July and we have a dinner booked at Disney Springs. We are hoping to take the boat from Old Key West but I hear the docks are under refurbishment. Will the they be up and running by July?

Hiya, Carrie! Thanks for stopping by planDisney!

You’re summer Walt Disney World vacation and relaxing stay at the wonderful Old Key West Resort will be here before you know it. What’s first on your vacation itinerary? A trip to a water park? A dip in the hotel pool? Going to one of the theme parks as soon as you can ditch your luggage? Whatever you have planned, I’m sure it will be amazing.

You’re correct that the Old Key West water taxi dock was under refurbishment earlier this year, but it appears to be complete. Woo hoo! I don’t see any construction notices on the resort website, and at the time I’m writing this, the My Disney Experience mobile app offers the water taxi as a transportation option to get from Old Key West Resort to Disney Springs. I even chatted with a friendly Cast Member who confirmed that the dock is not under construction and the water taxi service to running. That means you should have no problems taking a scenic boat ride to your dining reservation at Disney Springs.

You’ve picked a great time to visit Walt Disney World, Carrie. Cool Kid Summer is in full swing and there is so much to see and do all across the Vacation Kingdom. There are special limited-time activities at each theme park, two new shows at Hollywood Studios, and Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away, the new nighttime parade at Magic Kingdom, will have made its debut by the time you arrive to start your vacation. You can find a full list of the cool summer experiences available this summer here

Carrie, I hope this information helps with your vacation planning and that you have a wonderful time at your Disney Springs dining reservation. Come right back if you have any other questions. You’re as welcome as can be at planDisney!

    Magical travels!
