We'll be staying at OKW. Where do you suggest we pick up a few groceries and such? I was thinking WalMart on Apopka-Vineland. Is it as far as it looks? About how long should it take to get there? Will rush hour be an issue in that area? Thanks a bunch!

Hi, Patti! The real question is will you have a car...either yours or a rental? If so, then yes -- by all means -- I would venture off property to pick up some groceries for your Villa at Old Key West. If you visit the All Ears site at www.allears.net/btp/grocery, it will give a full listing of all the grocery stores in several areas near WDW -- in case you want to stop on your way from the airport or if you're coming from a certain area of WDW.  In addition, it will give you full recommendations on which ones to visit based on where they are and what they offer.

For instance, the Wal-Mart on West Vine /192 is rumored to be the busiest one in the world -- and we're not talking Walt Disney World! Therefore, you may make your decisions based on All Ears' wide base of knowledge. My preferred grocery store -- when I need just the basics and I have a car -- is the Publix on Vineland. If you don't have to get on I-4, you won't have to deal with traffic as much, and yes, there are certain times of the day that are busier than others. However, in addition to morning and afternoon rush hour, there is also an evening traffic issue since it's a tourist destination, and people are out and about in the evening.  You can count on a grocery store run to take you around 15-30 minutes each way depending upon the store and the time of day you choose.

In addition, don't forget that Conch Flats General Store has the basic groceries as well. You may pay a little more, but of course, it's cheaper than renting a car! Also, there are some grocery delivery services in the Orlando area -- such as gardengrocer.com and wegoshop.com -- which will bring groceries to your resort for a fee.

I hope this has helped to point you in the right direction. Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation!
