Hi Jennifer,
Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question! It sounds as if you have an action-packed vacation planned across Central Florida.
Hanging out at the Polynesian Village Resort is one of my favorite ways to spend some down time at Walt Disney World. Your mother is more than welcome to stroll around the resort or find a comfy chair in the Great Hall while you enjoy your Best Friends Breakfast with Lilo and Stitch at
'Ohana. If she wants to get a bite while you enjoy your character breakfast, she can grab a specialty coffee and a pastry or breakfast sandwich at
Kona Island, which is across from 'Ohana, or a full breakfast at
Capt. Cook's, which is on the floor below. There's a really quiet, pleasant seating area next to a waterfall outside of Capt. Cook's that is the
Trader Sam's Tiki Terrace later in the day.
My family loves to look at the displays of memorabilia from Disney films with a Polynesian theme. Those are located in the hallway leading to Capt. Cook's. Last month, we spotted items from a couple of movies we were unfamiliar with, which set us off on an online search for more details.
And we always seem to find the best souvenirs at
BouTiki gift shop.
The landscaping at this resort is especially lush, so your mom may just want to spend her time meandering and taking it all in. (Please note that some areas may be off limits because of ongoing construction.) No matter what she chooses, I think she will find plenty of ways to be entertained while she waits.
Wishing you a magical visit with your whole family, Jennifer!
Wilma
