We are staying offsite and are from Canada, traveling to WDW for the first time. We leave in two weeks for our trip. We have not yet purchased our tickets, wondering about magic bands. Do we have to have them for fast passes?

    Hi Jill,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking us another question. You must be so excited that the countdown to your first visit to Walt Disney World Resort is almost over!

You can absolutely choose to purchase MagicBands for your upcoming visit, but this is by no means required. Because they unfortunately can’t be shipped to Canada, you’ll have to wait until you’re “on site” if you’d like to purchase some.

Otherwise, the admission cards that you’ll receive when you pick up your Theme Park Tickets will work perfectly for everything, INCLUDING your party’s FastPass+ selections. You don’t need a MagicBand in order to make up to 3 selections per day (all in a single Theme Park), up to 30 days before your visit and in order to redeem them when you’re touring the Parks.

I strongly recommend that you make your family’s FastPass+ selections right now, considering your vacation is 2 weeks away. Several of the most popular attractions, such as Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom Park and Avatar Flight of Passage at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park may already be unavailable this close to your visit. If you don’t manage to get all of the selections that you want, don’t despair! I find that availability typically frees up the day before or the day of your visit, so keep refreshing your My Disney Experience app.
    Have a Magical Day,
