    We are staying off site but my family would like to have Magic Bands for our visit. Should I buy them before we get there or once we are there? How do I link them to our account once we have them? Thanks!!

    Hi Dana! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I’m so glad you’ve found us in advance of your upcoming March trip! You must be so excited to be making plans very soon. 

    While staying off Disney property, it is certainly still possible to enjoy MagicBands during your trips to Walt Disney World! Since you are not staying at a Disney Resort Hotel, you will not automatically receive MagicBands. When you purchase tickets for your vacation, you will instead receive cards containing your ticket information. You will then need to link these tickets to your My Disney Experience account. You are able to purchase MagicBands online that can also be linked to your My Disney Experience account and will be then able to easily be used interchangeably to access your park tickets, link PhotoPass photos and videos, and so much more! Of course, you may also wait and purchase MagicBands while at Walt Disney World, as there are so many to choose from at many Theme Park and Resort retail locations as well as Disney Springs! For those wishing to personalize their MagicBands, Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. in Magic Kingdom Park even offers the option to customize with various image and color combinations!

In summary, you could wait until your arrival to make the purchase, but making it ahead of time might bring some added magic (and save some precious vacation minutes!), so you can start your vacation with MagicBands on, ready to enjoy The Most Magical Place on Earth!
