We are staying off property. About how long should we budget time wise to get from the Disney gate to the different parks, park in $20 parking and then get shuttled to the park entrance? Would it be worth paying for the $40 parking?

    Hi Brooke!

Guessing traffic at this time of year is just that...a guess! It will be a busy week at Walt Disney World so prepare for the long lines on the roads and in the parks. But with good planning you can certainly enjoy your magical stay.

It is difficult to tell you times as you will approach each park in a different direction. From most of the entrances you can reach a park within ten minutes. This year reaching the Magic Kingdom will be the longest wait as they are refiguring the traffic pattern for that park. Each day it seems to change so follow those signs carefully. Arriving as early as possible is going to be your best tool in saving time.

Disney does offer the Preferred Parking at the parks. I have used it extensively this fall and love it. For resort guests it is at an extra cost of $20 and for non resort guests it will cost you $40 each day. You can go from park to park on the same day and not pay it twice. The spots are very close to the park entrances and that can save you steps. But they will also fill up quickly at this time of year so again getting there early is the key. If you don’t use the Preferred Parking you can use the trams that bring you from the further areas.

Hope this helps.....it is hard to know where to spend your money when there are so many great things to see and buy!
