Hi, Heather! Welcome to planDisney.
Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto at
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is my favorite bar on property! This tropical tiki bar is packed with immersive details, tasty themed cocktails, and a fun, adventurous vibe that makes every visit memorable. Whether you’re collecting souvenir mugs or just soaking in the South Seas atmosphere, Trader Sam’s is a must-do for Disney adults and anyone looking for a unique night out. My wife and I regularly blurt out, "Two shots of rum!" (If you know, you know).
And thanks to a recent policy change, you can now park at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort if you’re visiting Trader Sam’s, even without a dining reservation. Starting at 2:00 PM and continuing until close, non-resort Guests are allowed to park in the main resort lot specifically to enjoy Trader Sam’s,
Tambu Lounge, or
Wailulu Bar & Grill. Just let the security Cast Member at the gate know where you’re headed. Keep in mind, though, that parking is subject to availability and hotel Guests will always have priority, so on especially busy days, you may be directed elsewhere.
Here’s a tip: If parking at the Polynesian is full, consider parking at the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC), which is just a short walk or monorail ride away. Arriving a little before 2:00 PM can also help secure a spot, especially during busy times. And don’t forget that Trader Sam’s opens at 3:00 PM, but lines can form early, so plan to arrive a bit before opening for the best chance at snagging a seat in this legendary lounge!
