We will be staying in a Non-Disney resort condo for our family vacation next April. Are we eligible for the Disney Dining plan or fastpass if we are not staying in a Disney resort?

Hello, Cindy! Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question.

Cindy, as much as I love staying at a Disney Resorts Collection Hotel and do so often, my family also enjoys renting a condo off property. It's nice to have a full kitchen and even a washer and dryer to keep things clean throughout the trip. I wanted to let you know that at this time, Cindy, the Disney Dining Plan and the FastPass+ programs have been temporarily suspended. They have not yet returned to us since the shutdown. However, things are really starting to feel like they are getting back to normal at Walt Disney World and I wouldn't be surprised to see those things return soon.

If the Disney Dining Plan returns and looks the same as it did before, you would not be eligible to add it on to your vacation, Cindy. The Disney Dining Plan, in the past, has been reserved only for Guests staying at a Disney Resorts Collection Hotel with a vacation package. If you want something that mirrors the Disney Dining Plan, what I've been doing is stocking up on Disney Gift Cards when I go to the grocery store. If you pick them up every once in a while between now and your trip next year, you will have more than enough on Disney Gift Cards to pay for splurgy meals, snacks and drinks. I like to do it this way because then the money is already taken out of your bank account and has to be used for something at Walt Disney World. It makes it a lot easier to go ahead and get that expensive steak if the money is already basically spent.

If the FastPass+ program returns and looks the same as it did before, you are absolutely going to able to take advantage of the program. In the past, the FastPass+ program was free to all ticket holders. I, however, don't know if it will be the same as before. If it is, you'll be able to make FastPass+ selections for your trip via your MyDisneyExperience account.

Until we know more, keep an eye over on the Disney Parks Blog for updates on what's returning when to Walt Disney World. Cindy, if you have any other planning questions before your trip, please feel free to come back and ask me. I'm here to help.

    Happy planning!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
