Hi Kimberley,
Welcome back to planDisney! I see my Sweet 16
panelist pal Candace has helped you plan some Disney fun in the past—she’s the best, and I hope I can be just as helpful for your upcoming visit.
You're in for quite the experience with this incredible split stay between Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and the brand-new
Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. I just wrapped up my first stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge and was completely blown away by how deeply immersed I felt in the African savanna experience, from the breathtaking views of the wildlife to the rich cultural details around every corner. And if you're a fan of that laid-back, tropical vibe, then the Polynesian will sweep you right off your feet. The new Island Tower brings a fresh take on the resort’s classic charm, and I can’t wait for you to experience it.
To answer your question, you can use a rideshare service like Uber to travel from Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge to the Island Tower and later to Orlando International Airport (MCO). All Guests are welcome to use rideshare apps to get around the Walt Disney World Resort, so Hakuna Matata! Since you’re asking about transportation, may I also suggest trying the
Minnie Van Service? You can request one directly through the Lyft app. These vans are driven by friendly Disney Cast Members and come equipped with helpful features like car seats, extra room, and that iconic red-and-white polka-dot style. It’s a great option when you want to add a little convenience (and Disney flair) to your trip across property.
Also, don’t forget about the
complimentary transportation options available to you. Since you’re doing what we like to call a “split stay,”
Bell Services can transfer your luggage from Animal Kingdom Lodge to the Polynesian while you head off to enjoy a theme park, water park, or Disney Springs. Once your room at the Island Tower is ready, you can hop on the transportation option that best suits your plans, and your luggage will be waiting for you when you arrive. If you’d prefer to have your bags delivered directly to your room, just let Bell Services know, and they’ll be happy to do so for a small fee.
I hope this helps set the stage for an easy and enjoyable transition between resorts. If you have any other questions,
come back and ask me directly. And while you're at the Polynesian, be sure to treat yourself to a DOLE Whip from
Pineapple Lanai and take in
Happily Ever After from the beach, there’s nothing quite like it.
A hui hou,
Brent
