Welcome Home, Ryan - and welcome to planDisney! How cool that you will be visiting
Walt Disney World Resort for the grand opening of the newest
Disney Vacation Club resort. It's just around the corner, so let's get down to business and find out what's in store for this magical occasion!
Island Tower at Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows is such an exciting addition to the DVC family. The Polynesian is our family's Home Resort, and we've been looking forward to seeing the project completed. I am sure this will be a popular destination for Guests with its beautiful decor and prime location! It also expands the accommodations offered at the Polynesian beyond the Deluxe Studios and the Bungalows that are part of the original DVC offerings there.
I spoke with
Member Services, who did not have any information on specific activities for the grand opening. If there are some festivities planned, these may be under wraps to keep the magic as a surprise! I do know that when
Disney's Riviera Resort opened in 2019, there was a ceremony featuring Mickey and pals that was a lot of fun. I recommend checking with the resort staff at check-in for the most up-to-date information.
As for
Wailulu Bar & Grill, this is a Quick-Service restaurant, so you will not need a reservation to eat there. The Disney Parks Blog posted a mouthwatering
Foodie Guide recently highlighting some of the delectable dishes that will be offered at this new dining spot. I'm really excited to try the restaurant myself!
Ryan, I'm sorry I don't have more specific details to share about the grand opening, but I hope this information is helpful for your planning purposes. I am sure it will be a memorable occasion to be among the first Guests to experience Island Tower! Thanks again for stopping by planDisney, and please don't hesitate to come back and see us again if we can help with any other questions.
Stay Magical!
Susan
