We are staying July 18-24 at POFQ. This is our first visit and our DD 13th birday. Is POFQ a good choice to stay your first time or should we change to another resort?

Hi, Bobbi! My daughter also just turned 13, and I just had to answer your dear question. Congratulations on your first trip...WDW is a magical place at any age. I think your daughter is going to be blown away!

Port Orleans French Quarter is a great Disney resort near Downtown Disney with a wonderful pool area and some great dining options. It is my favorite resort in the moderate category, and you're going to like being so close to the fabulous shopping, dining and entertainment center of DTD. My daughter likes House of Blues, Bongo's Cuban Cafe and Wolfgang Puck's. Also, Cirque du Soliel would be a very special celebration of a milestone birthday!

There are deluxe resorts that are closer to the theme parks with beautiful decor, amazing dining and shopping and wonderful amenities. However with all those extras comes a higher price tag, too. So, I personally think that you've made a great choice. If you'd like to discuss more ideas and options, please write back and ask more questions. I'd love to help!

Happy birthday to your almost teen-aged princess! Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation!
