We are staying in a hotel close to the resort. If we have a ticket for a day at a theme park can we leave the park at some point to take a break and then come back to finish out the park?

    Hi Taylor, welcome to planDisney!

When it comes to planning a Walt Disney World Resort park day, if you can dream it, you can do it. Some Guests like to stay from rope drop to fireworks, also known as park open to park close. I even have a friend that will drive all night and spend a full day at the parks! Other Guests, myself included, prefer to take a midday break. Let's explore what that could look like during your visit.

For theme park visits before January 9, 2024, valid admission, a theme park reservation, and a method of entry (MagicBand, Disney MagicMobile pass, or admission card) are required. After January 9, theme park reservations for date-based tickets will no longer be required. During your park day, Taylor, you are welcome to come and go as you please. If you decide to return to your hotel, your parking pass will be valid for the entire day at all four theme parks (in case you decide to add the Park Hopper Option to your ticket).

When my kids were younger, we would return to our hotel each day for a nap break. These days, the kids and I prefer a midday pool break while Daddy's napping. We also enjoy taking complimentary Disney transportation (bus, Disney Skyliner, Monorail, etc.) to a nearby Disney Resort hotel for shopping and/or a meal. On Magic Kingdom Park days, my go-to lunch spot is Steakhouse 71 at Disney's Contemporary Resort. This restaurant is just a ten-minute walk or one Resort Monorail stop away from the entrance to Magic Kingdom Park. Enjoying the melt-in-your-mouth Stack Burger while my pedometer gets a rest increases my enjoyment of Happily Ever After exponentially.

If you plan to experience Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT or TRON Lightcycle / Run at Magic Kingdom Park via the virtual queue, Taylor, something to keep in mind is that you have to physically be inside the park to join the 1:00 p.m. virtual queue. The 7:00 a.m. virtual queue can be joined from anywhere using the My Disney Experience mobile app (three lines at the bottom of the app's home page --> Virtual Queues).

    Plan magic; planDisney.
