We are staying at the Grand Floridian with a 4 year old next Sept. How long will it take to Magic Kingdom? Should we try to stay at Contemp even if it is more expensive? We want to come back for naps and will visit MK only 2 days.

    Hey, Ofelia!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! This is a tough call because both resorts are fantastic. Here is the short list of essentials about each.

Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has the SHORTEST monorail ride TO Magic Kingdom Park but the longest on the way back. There is no walking path between the two. Disney's Contemporary Resort is the closest resort to Magic Kingdom Park, has the LONGEST monorail trip TO Magic Kingdom Park and has a Walkway to Magic Kingdom Park. This walking path takes about 10-12 minutes.

If you are returning for naps then I think Disney's Contemporary Resort is the ideal because you may take either the monorail or the Walkway to get "home" in a short amount of time. I love staying at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa but the uniqueness of Disney's Contemporary Resort is unforgettable. We always walk both ways from Disney's Contemporary Resort.

Disney Dad Tip: Disney's Contemporary Resort has Garden Wing rooms that are more affordable than staying in the main building. If the difference is between these two Resorts is more than your budget allows then look at the Garden Wing option. If it is still too expensive, then know you will be staying in regal elegance at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

Please let me know if you have any other questions to make your Disney trip special.

Ofelia, enjoy making many Magical Memories.
