Jenna from CA Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

Hi! I am staying at the Grand Floridian & I know I need to put a credit card on file, but can I put Disney gift card funds on my room account once I get there, to act as credit? Or do I need to wait till check out to post the gift card?

    Welcome back to planDisney, Jenna!

Jenna, just as Jasmine was thrilled to see Aladdin return to Agrabah, that’s how we at planDisney feel when we see a familiar guest with another question, so let’s chat about your next Magic carpet ride to the Walt Disney World Resort!

Jenna, my family and I use Disney Gift Cards for every aspect of our vacation and I’m hoping that my experience will help you from the moment your Magic carpet touches down at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

Jenna, while you aren’t able to put a Disney Gift Card on file in lieu of a credit card, you are able to pay in advance (or even daily with your gift card as my family does) so that your credit card never sees a purchase. For example, my family loves to use our MagicBands to charge daily expenses like food and merchandise. When we head back to our Disney Resorts Collection hotel at the end of the day, my husband or I will stop by the Front Desk and pay the day’s balance using a Disney Gift Card. In fact, I recommend doing this at least once prior to check-out to ensure your credit card isn’t charged.

Jenna, I hope this helps as you are thinking ahead and purchasing those gift cards for future use. I find that it is a great way to budget for our trips and I love the feeling of having everything prepaid. I hope you enjoy your stay at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa even more than Abu loves finding gemstones and I hope to see you here again with more questions!

    Wishing you a Princess-worthy stay,
    Lauren

Greetings from central Pennsylvania! Hi, I’m Lauren and I can’t wait to answer all of your Walt Disney World Resort and Disney Vacation Club questions. My husband and I became Disney Vacation Club Members because we love visiting the Disney Parks and with hectic day-to-day schedules, wanted to prioritize time away for our family. The options at the Walt Disney World Resort make each trip unique and I am excited to help other families build vacations with those unforgettable moments.
