Hi there Kristen, and welcome to planDisney!
You know, I was already waist-deep in planning my
Disney Fairy Tale Wedding that would take place as we stayed at
The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa when it was announced that a
massive refurbishment and reimagining would take place. It has certainly been interesting coming back to visit and witness the changes over the past few years that began with the
Enchanted Rose construction and the departure of the Grand Floridian Society Orchestra! In fact, I had the opportunity to chat with one of the Imagineers in their distinctive hard hats as they walked around the main lobby looking upwards about what they had planned, which ended up being a renewed color palette and a refreshed
Cítricos with subtle theming inspired by Mary Poppins Returns, that carries through the design elements found in some of the newly reimagined rooms and spaces across the buildings as they were clad in scaffolding bit by bit over the past year.
Though we as planDisney Panelists may have the opportunity to get a sneak peek at what's may be in store for the future, asking the Cast Members directly for any information about ongoing and future refurbishment at
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa doesn't reveal too much at the current time. They are unable to guarantee whether everything will be completed by the time of your upcoming visit, and timelines and available resort offerings are always subject to change without prior notice.
For example, though the refurbishment being done at locations like
Victoria and Albert's was completed, I personally experienced a refreshed
Narcoossee's briefly before it closed once again for additional work; at the current time neither the
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique nor
1900 Park Faire have yet reopened and the
Garden View Tea Room has not seen the hustle and bustle of its tea parties for quite some time. Basin White has only just recently closed, so it seems like there's quite a bit yet to be done over the next few months but as a Disney Vacation Club owner myself I'm just as curious as to when we'll be able to see our home resort back to her completely renewed glory!
In the meantime, I encourage you to follow along on the
Disney Parks Blog for the latest news and updates; personally I'm crossing my fingers for a chunk of construction to be completed in time for the
Grand Cottage and beautiful egg display this spring, but here's hoping your stay will be construction-free!
Here's to more beautiful construction without too much disruption!
