Going to be staying at Grand Floridian July 6, thru the 13th, we didnt get the dining plan but still have time to. This is our second trip to Disney. Was wondering is it cheaper to get it, or just cough up the money when eat. The kids arent big eaters.

    Hi Michael,

The dining plan can offer significant savings, especially if you eat at character meals or have a tendency to select the most expensive menu items when you dine out.  However, I think its appeal is mostly in the convenience it provides.  When you purchase the dining plan, your entire vacation is paid for ahead of time.  This leaves you free to enjoy you enjoy the magic, rather than worry about how much it's costing.

The cost of a child on the dining plan very reasonable - once again, the cost of a character meal usually covers the daily price of a child meal plan.  I would base my decision on the eating habits of the adults in your party.  If you are all light eaters, then you will probably be better off passing on the plan.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
