Hi Hazel,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I just got back from a few days at
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, which is truly one of my very favorite places to stay at the Walt Disney World Resort. The lobby smells amazing, the resort is gorgeous and relaxing, and its location is just perfect. I’m already ready to go back!
Hazel, I’m a tea drinker, and I would love to see electric kettles in Disney resort rooms. At this time, kettles are not available in the resort rooms at Walt Disney World, but you will find a Keurig machine in the room at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, along with Twinings English Breakfast and Green tea K-cups (and Joffrey’s coffee K-cups as well). I actually prefer a different tea brand, which I pack in my suitcase, and I run water through the Keurig machine to heat it up and steep my own tea bag. I purchase milk from the resort Quick-Service location to put in my tea, though you’ll find creamer, an assortment of sugar and sweeteners, and stir sticks in the room. You can also find hot water and tea bags at
Gasparilla Island Grill; I love to stop there and grab a cuppa and sit outside to enjoy my tea and the view of
Cinderella Castle.
A quick tip, Hazel: if you find that you need more tea K-cups in your room, all you need to do is use your room’s phone to call Housekeeping and request more. On a recent visit, my children were asleep and I wanted to enjoy a cup on my balcony, so I made the request and was enchanted when a Mousekeeper showed up with an assortment of tea on an actual silver platter!
Since we’re talking tea, I have to recommend that you make a reservation for
Afternoon Tea at the Garden View Tea Room. This is a proper tea service, where you can select from a wide variety of tea options, steeped in a pot (with a tea cozy, of course) and served in delicate tea cups. The sandwiches, pastries, and treats were delightful, and my daughter and I had one of our favorite Disney afternoons enjoying tea and each other’s company there. We just loved the experience!
I'm raising my tea cup (okay, it's a
Haunted Mansion mug) in a toast to your upcoming visit, Hazel. ChEARs!
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
