We are staying at the Grand Californian and I understand there are no microwaves in the rooms. We would like to bring our own very small microwave to use just for heating oatmeal for breakfast. Is this allowed?

Hi there, Carole! Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel. You are going to adore staying at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel and Spa! The all-encompassing architecture and decor are spellbinding and the proximity to the parks simply can't be beat.

You are correct that microwaves are not available in Guest rooms, and, due to safety concerns, Guests are not allowed to bring in their own. However, this doesn't mean that you have to go without your daily oatmeal! There are microwaves located in common areas throughout the hotel. Simply ask a Cast Member at check-in which common area is nearest to your room. Or, what we have done in the past is to use the coffee maker to supply the hot water for the oatmeal. We put instant oatmeal in a coffee mug, let the water "brew" in the coffee maker without any coffee grounds and drip into the cup, then you just stir, and you're ready to go.

You also have a few tasty options for breakfast located right inside the hotel. White Water Snacks is a quick service option that has made-to-order breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as a nice selection of grab-and-go items. You can also enjoy a hearty buffet breakfast with Chip n' Dale and their woodland pals at Storytellers Cafe.

I hope this information was helpful. Please return to the Disney Parks Moms Panel with any other questions you may have!
