Hi, we will be staying at the Grand Californian in June with 2 girls, 5 and 8. Is the Grand Quest Scavenger Hunt still an option? I’m trying to think of activities other than the pool and shopping for our arrival afternoon. Thank you, Elizabeth

    Hey Elizabeth!

    Welcome to planDisney!

Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa is my favorite Disney Hotel! You’re going to love the elegant craftsman feel at every turn and the impeccable service provided to guests. With two Mouseketeers, the direct entrance into Disney California Adventure Park will make entering the park a breeze but you’ll really appreciate it when it's time to take a mid-day break from all the fun. Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa boasts some of the best dining on property with GCH Craftsman Bar and Storytellers Cafe as some of my favorites. As you begin to finalize some of your plans, I recommend making a dining reservation 60 days in advance. It would make a great way to start your trip!

We usually don’t go to the parks on the first day during our Disney Vacations either. I see that you're looking for recommendations to keep your girls busy. At this time, the Grand Quest Scavenger Hunt is unavailable and there is no information on when or if this interactive experience will return. I recommend you check the Guest Services Desk in the lobby for a complete schedule of the current activities.

As you mentioned, the pool or some shopping in the Downtown Disney District is a great way to spend your first day. My kids really enjoyed the fun pool parties last summer and picking out some new Disney Ears or Disney T-Shirt at World of Disney would get the kids really excited for the park days ahead. Another activity you can do with your daughters on your arrival day is visiting Splitsville Luxury Lanes- Bowling in the Downtown Disney District. This retro-inspired bowling alley is fun for guests of all ages! You could maybe get some ice cream at Salt & Straw or a treat at Marceline’s Confectionary before you head back to the hotel.

Well Elizabeth, please come back and let us know if you have any more planning questions.

Remember, always believe in the Magic!
