Hello Kolby and thank you for taking the time to stop by the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Our family enjoys staying at the Grand Californian. It is such a serene place, despite the bustles and excitement of California Adventure a stone's throw away.
Standard rooms at the Grand Californian have views of the parking areas or Disneyland Drive. If you're looking to view fireworks from your balcony, you will most likely be unable to do so from a standard room.
During our stay at the Grand Californian in the peak summer season, we had two rooms booked and we needed one of these to be an accessible room. We requested the rooms to be adjoining or adjacent. The hotel cast members were very accommodating, and despite the hotel being fully booked for one of the nights we were there, we were able to have our requests fulfilled. When checking in, I specifically asked how room requests are handled. The cast member told me that they prioritize by accessibility and medical needs first before taking into consideration all other requests. We were told to specify any special requests at the time of reservation, then follow-up with a phone call a day before your arrival when room assignments are generally made. Of course, a request is only a request but the hotel staff will try their best to accommodate your wishes.
If there is a particular room request you wish during your upcoming
Grand Californian stay, do not hesitate to contact the hotel directly. Please visit me here on the Panel if you have further questions.
Enjoy your trip to the Happiest Place on Earth!
