Staying at GF and wondering if I need to bring everyone's magic bands to the pool. I would prefer to bring mine to get back in the room & leave my DD in the room so it doesn't get lost. Do the pools have gates that require bands to open them?

Thank for returning to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Shaunna! I know you’re bursting with excitement over your upcoming vacation, and who wouldn’t want to dream about swimming at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa? The Mad Hatter splash pad is BUCKETS of fun!

Yes, to answer your question, there are gates around each pool with scannable locks which you MagicBand will open. You will need to be a Resort guest to open them (for example, a guest of the Polynesian would not be able to open a Grand Floridian pool lock). You can easily wear your MagicBand and escort your children to the pool, but I always prefer my kids wear them just in case. My kids visit the potty often and we will pack up for lunch and later return, making our MagicBands a must-have part of our apparel during our vacations. To keep them on, I buy these little things called “BitBands” off of Amazon that slide onto the tabs of the MagicBands (and my Fitbit!) to keep them from falling off or coming apart. They are so inexpensive, and a perfect little insurance policy for something to valuable to me.

I hope you end up Mad as the Hatter about all the fun you’re going to have during your trip, and be sure to say hello to Alice if you see her at breakfast! Stay Curious! ~ Lindsey P.
