Epcot Monorail around Spaceship Earth

We are staying at the GF. We have a 9:45a-10:45a LL reservation for Remy’s. Is there a way to rope drop Frozen Ever After? Or should I rope drop Spaceship Earth instead? What time do we leave hotel? Is the monorail the best transportation strategy?

    Hi Lauren!

Thanks for bringing this question to planDisney! It sounds like you’ve set your morning up exactly the same way I would have in that situation, so let’s talk through all the details of it!

When arriving at Epcot via the Monorail, you’ll be dropped off at the front entrance near Spaceship Earth. Because of that, Frozen Ever After is a great attraction to rope drop! Guests entering Epcot from the International Gateway (the back entrance to the park) have an advantage of being able to more easily rope drop Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, but everyone has a pretty even chance when rope dropping Frozen Ever After.

Whenever I’m entering Epcot through the front entrance, I always book a Lightning Lane for Remy’s, so that I don’t end up behind the large crowds coming in through the International Gateway entrance. Then I head for Frozen first thing in the morning. It may seem like lots of other people are walking in that direction, but the line usually moves quickly during that Early Entry time.

To get to Epcot from the Grand Floridian, the Monorail is a great option. But it’s good to note that you will need to transfer Monorail lines at the Transportation and Ticket Center, so it can take some extra time. I’d plan to leave your resort about an hour before Early Entry (maybe even a little earlier than that if everyone is up and ready to go!). If you end up planning to rope drop Spaceship Earth instead of Frozen, you wouldn’t have to leave as early.

One big perk of staying at a resort along the Monorail line is that you'll go through security at your resort before hopping on the Monorail. So, you'll get to skip that step once you get to Epcot.

Another option for transportation to Epcot is booking a Minnie Van via Lyft. This could be quicker, but I’ve found that Minnie Vans are tougher to book at busy times, including those morning hours when people are trying to make it to the parks in time for rope drop.

I hope that gives you some guidance! And that you have the BEST trip! Let us know if you have any other questions. We’re always happy to help!
