Woman in wheelchair shopping with friends; Disney Springs

We are staying at FW & rarely visit DTD. Shopping-sit-down meals aren't our interests. Aside from the amphibious car and balloon rides, is there anything else that we should consider taking the time to experience?

Hi there, Denise, and welcome back to planDisney!

I totally get prioritizing the theme parks—there’s just something so magical about watching fireworks, walking down Main Street U.S.A., and riding thrilling attractions. Shopping isn’t really my thing either, but as a self-proclaimed Disney foodie, Disney Springs is hands down one of my favorite hang-out spots. I am more than happy to share some insights about what to do in your spare time at Disney Springs.

I’ve yet to experience the Vintage Amphicar Tours and the Aerophile; however, here are some fun activities to consider doing:

Splitsville Luxury Lanes—If you’d rather eat while you’re doing an activity, I highly recommend this fun bowling alley. The theming is fantastic, each bowling lane is exclusively for your party, and the food is actually super delicious. You have to try the loaded Macho Nachos.

AMC Theatres—This is one of my favorite movie theatres as a Central Florida local. The seating is comfortable and they even have a Dine-In option that provides a unique experience. There’s nothing like watching a Disney movie while at Disney itself.

Concerts—From the House of Blues to the Waterside Stage to Raglan Road performances, there are many places to find great live music entertainment at Disney Springs.

Boat rides to the nearby Resort hotels—If you are staying at a Disney Resort hotel, consider hopping on a boat down the Sassagoula River to visit hotels like Old Key West or Port Orleans—French Quarter (the beignets are out of this world).

Cirque du Soleil—Drawn to Life is the newest Cirque du Soleil show at Disney Springs. The acrobatics and storytelling will definitely be a highlight of your vacation. Be sure to book your tickets before the show.

Sweet treats—As you may have noticed on your previous trips, there are so many treats to choose from at Disney Springs. Some of my favorites are the cookies at Gideon’s Bakehouse and Summer House on the Lake and the DOLE Whip flights at Swirls on the Water.

AN EXTRA GEM: Level99 is the newest addition to Disney Springs that I think will be a huge hit for those who like to be more active or like solving puzzles. It seems like it’s mostly for adults, but if you have little ones in tow, they can join you inside the mini-games, too. I love escape rooms, so this is 100% on my list to try in the upcoming months.

Denise, I hope that you decide to visit Disney Springs during your next vacation to The Most Magical Place on Earth. Doing something a little different each trip really is that special spice that my family looks forward to. You never know what new favorite experience you’ll discover!
