We are staying at FW campsites in a rv the last week of june09 . This is our first time to FW , our kds are 2.8, 8, and 10. We will be going to the parks but would like to use the campground alot also. Is there any " MUST DOS" ?

    Nicole:

Hello to a fellow camper!  With four children who love to camp, too, I can tell you that you're in for a treat!  Our family enjoys the fort and some of our best memories are from days simply exploring it!

    A few suggestions and must-do's:

    • Campfire Sing-a-long with Chip 'n' Dale: A real singing cowboy rounds everyone up for a fun time.  Bring your own marshmallows and coat hangers for the fire pit, and don't forget to bring a lawn chair if you plan on staying for the movie--it's a lot more comfortable than the wooden seats!  (Ask what movies are playing at check-in, so you'll know which night would be best!)
    • The stables:  Disney houses its Main Street horses at the fort.  You can see them at no cost.  Pay attention to the memorabilia as you enter the stables.  It serves as a mini Fort Wilderness museum.
    • The pier:  Enjoy the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the beach and its pier at the fort.  Choreographed music accompanies the fireworks and is piped in through the loud speakers at the pier.  Don't miss the Electric Water Pageant that will arrive either before or after the fireworks (check the times listing on your fort guide given you at check-in).  Many campers miss the boat--the boat parade, that is.
    • The pool: Recently renovated (in fact, it reopened yesterday!), the new pool sports a slide and the fort's mascot Musket Mickey!  Lots of fun activities for the family happen poolside, like dance parties and, my favorite, bingo!  (And did I mention prizes?!)

I could go on and on....if you have any more questions, just shoot me one via my bio page!

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
