Hello Lisa and welcome to planDisney!
Hmm...as Genie once said, "Now, it still needs something. What does it say to me? It says...mode of transportation!"
While I'm a
Disney Cruise Line specialist, I do love a good trip to Walt Disney World Resort every now and then, and one of my favorite aspects of staying at one of the Walt Disney World Resort Collection hotels is the included transportation! From Disney Skyliner to the Friendship Boats and everything in-between, there's a way to get everywhere!
Now, nobody wants to be doing their White Rabbit impression and be late for their very important date...er, reservation at
Disney's Polynesian Villiage Resort! I know you're looking to use these great transportation options, but the timing of your reservation makes arriving with time to spare at
'Ohana a bit tricky! My suggestion for the
absolute best way for you to ensure you arrive in time for your breakfast reservation without driving yourself would be to take a rideshare like Lyft or Uber.
But if you're willing to take a chance and go on a bit of a "Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride" to "Go the Distance" here's what I'd suggest:
For your particular situation, I popped open the My Disney Experience app to check the Park Hours & Info section for the all-important opening time for
Magic Kingdom Park. You see, Guest Transporation starts running 45 minutes before park opening, and the week of your trip, Magic Kingdom Park opens at 9:00 a.m. That means transportation starts at 8:15 a.m. - but be sure to get to the bus stop early!
Since busses run from the resorts to the parks, using Disney Bus Transportation requires a transfer to either a Water Taxi (my planDrew-approved pick) or Monorail headed to Disney's Polynesian Villiage Resort! You can catch water taxis at the dock just outside Magic Kingdom Park's gates, or the monorail just off to the left of the entrance to the park!
Please be aware that the bus ride from
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter to Magic Kingdom Park takes about 20-25 minutes, and the Water Taxi and Monorail, while running continuously, could take a bit of a wait. You've got one thing going for you though, as you'll be "swimming upstream" when it comes to Guests looking to go TOWARD the resort and not the park at that time of day! By my calculations, that puts perfect travel time without delays to walk into O'hana at just about 45-50 minutes, which is a bit close for comfort if you ask me!
So, Lisa, I'd still suggest planning on setting up a rideshare to be sure your family doesn't miss out on that coveted O'hana reservation!
Thank you so much for your question, Lisa! I hope that helps you make a decision and plan for an incredible start to that particular day of magic. If you run into any additional questions while finalizing your plans, you know where to find us here at planDisney!
