We will be staying at the Fort wilderness resort and campground and have a 7:15 am reservation at Chef Mickeys. What would be the best option of transportation, and what time should we plan on leaving??

    Hi Betsy,

My best tip for transportation to the Contemporary Resort, which is where you will be going for your Chef Mickey's Dining experience, would be the Water Launch transportation system.  This is one of the benefits you have with staying at Fort Wilderness Campground.  I would suggest you take a bus from your campsite to the Settlement Depot, have a short stroll to the water dock, and get on the blue flag boat, (which has 3 stops: Wilderness Lodge, Contemporary and Fort Wilderness Campground), this will take you to the Contemporary.  It is a very short boat ride as you are located diagonally across from the Contemporary Resort from Fort Wilderness and it is a very pleasurable experience (make sure you look at Discovery Island as you sail by, (which has been closed for a while now!) but still hosts many beautiful birds that are local to this area...including Pelicans!).  The water launch service started running this route at 6:45am when I was last there, so if you give yourself at least 30 minutes for travel time, you should make it in time (keep in mind that the restaurants do give you a 15-20 minute grace period for reservations...just in case!).  Have a great dining experience and give Mickey a "High Four" for me!!!!!

    Best Wishes,
