I will be staying at Fort Wilderness. We plan on arriving early and parking our trailer until our site is ready. We want to go to Downtown Disney while we wait. Is there transportation from FW to DD. What time does it start? When does DD open?

Howdy Darby! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Thanks for stopping by with your question. Let's get you set for your stay in the wilderness!

I admit, I have a lot of favorites when it comes to Walt Disney World Resort hotels, but I tend to think of Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground as "home." My family has stayed in the Cabins several times, and I fall in love with "the Fort" more and more each time. I've never stayed there in an RV, but it's on my bucket list for sure.

When we have a stay at the Fort planned, we're always so excited for our vacation to start, we tend to get there really early. If our Cabin isn't quite ready yet, we'll often head over to Disney Springs (the new name for Downtown Disney) to grab a bite while we wait. And it's really easy to get there. Just hop over to the Outpost Depot bus stop, located across the street from the Reception Outpost where you checked in. Disney Springs officially opens at 10 a.m. most days, and the Walt Disney World website informs me that buses start running about 45 minutes before that.

Here's a tip for you! Did you know you can check for the next bus arrival time in your My Disney Experience app? Just click on your reservation and you can navigate to the real time bus schedule! For step-by-step instructions, the Disney Parks Blog posted a video on how to get next bus arrival times at your Walt Disney World Resort hotel.

Darby, I hope this gets your Walt Disney World Resort vacation off to a great start. Please visit us again if you have any more questions!

Meet the Panelist: Kathy, Florida

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
