Hi April! You have a very coveted reservation at the
Fort Wilderness Campgrounds. Many, many guests try to be there during the Halloween holiday as there are so many great things that go on at that time.
There will be a golf cart parade where guests decorate their carts and parade through the main road. Guests line the sides cheering on their favorite. Last year there were over 100 carts in the parade. There will also be a dog costume parade, site decoration contest, pumpkin carving contest, and the wonderful trick or treating activity on Halloween night.
When Halloween falls on a weekend you can expect even more guests then usual. The resort is locked out to all cars except those who are staying but many other guests come in by bus and boat so it is a popular destination. It is impossible to give you a number since it does vary from year to year but it will be in the hundreds. You are not required to pass out treats but we always find it is so much fun and the kids are all dressed up and so cute. I try to pass out one piece of candy and then something like a pencil. Candy is hard to keep from getting too hot and melting but I know the kids look forward to the sweets and not just a pencil!
Please know that whatever you purchase to pass out it will be appreciated. When the treats are gone then they are gone and you close up. I know many children will be so thankful for guests such as yourself who want to participate this Halloween.
