will be staying at fort wilderness for the first time. trying to make a list of things to do to keep my 6 y/o grandson busy, can you help

Hi Bonnie! The Fort Wilderness Resort is a wonderful choice when bringing grandchildren to Walt Disney World. There are so many fun and unique things to see and do there when you are not visiting a park.

Whether you are staying in a cabin or a campsite make sure you bring along some colored chalk. He will love drawing his favorite pictures on the concrete. While outside help him gather a pile of pine cones and make a few of your favorite Mickey Mouse heads on the ground using the cones. Any activity outside will likely be his favorite as "camping" is what this resort is all about. Enjoying nature at its best!

This resort has many other things already in place for guests to enjoy. Take your grandson down to the Disney stables located next to Pioneer Hall. There you can visit many of the magnificent horses seen in the parades as well as Cinderella's ponies. You can enjoy a pony ride here too but wear good shoes as you will be doing the leading of the pony around the short course.

There are two pools with the larger one having a splash zone and a slide. Spend a few hours and picnic there as they have a very nice snack bar. In the evening head to Chip and Dale's Campfire Singalong where you can roast some marshmallows and sing and dance with your favorite characters. Stay for the Disney movie that follows each evening.

You can also head to the beach area where you can see quite a bit of the night time Magic Kingdom fireworks. Stay and enjoy the water parade which passes by each night around 9:45pm.

There are play areas scattered across the resort as well as some tether ball poles and basketball goals. Book a carriage ride for an evening or take the walk to Wilderness Lodge but whatever you choose there is always something else that can be enjoyed!
