We’re staying at fort wilderness campgrounds in august. No tickets to parks. Are we given some kind of access card to enter the campgrounds? I understand magic bands are optional so we probably won’t buy those (cute as they are!). Thanks!

Hello, Liz! Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question.

I'm so excited to see that you'll be spending some time at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground later this summer. My family and I love staying there. In fact, we rent a cabin to enjoy every Christmas. It's such a great place.

Liz, since you aren't going to the Walt Disney World Theme Parks and really have no need for a MagicBand, when you arrive make sure to swing by the Reception Outpost which is the front desk of the resort. After you've gone through the security gates this will be the first building on your left-hand side, you can't miss it. It's always where you will find the golf carts if you choose to rent one which I highly recommend! The Cast Members working inside will be able to provide you with a complimentary Key to the World card which pretty much acts like a MagicBand. This card will give you in and out privileges for the resort. I also think you'll be pleasantly surprised by how cute the Key to the World cards is! I've collected them all!

While you guys are staying at Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground, I do hope you'll visit P & J's Southern Takeout one night for dinner. It's a delicious meal and so affordable. My family and I always order the Chicken & Ribs dinner. This meal comes with 8 pieces of perfectly fried chicken, a full slab of BBQ ribs, 4 sides like macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, baked beans, slaw or french fries and a whole loaf of cornbread. This dinner feeds 4-6 people and we've fed 5 with this meal and had leftovers. All of that food rings up at only $44.99 which is an amazing value for all of the food that you get.

I hope you guys have so much fun staying at Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground, Liz. If you have any other questions before your trip, please come back and ask me.

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
