Howdy, Cathy! I'm excited for you to mosey on over to the Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. It's on my list of favorites!
There is so much to do at Fort Wilderness, and most of the activities are available year-round. You can rent watercraft, go on a horseback ride (or a sweet pony ride for the little ones), take archery lessons, sing songs around a campfire with Chip and Dale...the list goes on and on. And September is still plenty warm enough to hit the Meadow Swimmin' Pool, which sports a twisty corkscrew slide and water play-n-spray area for the kids. There are also a couple of smaller pools around the resort for your convenience. Do note that there is no swimming allowed in any lakes at the Walt Disney World Resort.
September kicks off Halloween season at Walt Disney World, so I have a couple of recommendations for you. First, be on the lookout for an announcement of the dates for Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom Park. Last year, the first party was held on September 1, so you may be able to hop over and check it out.
Also, the campers at Fort Wilderness are known for their love of decorating their campsites, so we have a blast getting a golf cart and cruising all over the grounds looking at the great displays during Halloween and Christmas.
When you get thirsty after all this activity, you can pick up a RapidFill mug at Pioneer Hall next to Trail's End Restaurant, and at the snack bar at the Meadow Swimmin' Hole.
Well, Cathy, I hope you have a rollicking good time during your stay at Fort Wilderness. Have a magical day!
Kathy K.
