We will be staying at Fort Wilderness campground in December. Does disney allow you to have campfires at your campsite if the fire is enclosed in a firepit with a top? I'm not talking about 3 alarm fires, just small very contained fires.

    Marilyn:

As you can imagine in a large campground like Fort Wilderness, Disney has safety as its top priority.  And your hunch is right: campfires are greatly restricted.

You can have a fire PROVIDED that it is similar to what you stated: in a portable firepot with not only a top but enclosed, mesh sides as well.  When you check in, you'll receive not only the Gazette that gives you all of the fun details of the fort like bike rental information, but you'll also receive an orange safety sheet that spells out information like this.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!
    Whitney

p.s. Don't forget to bring decorations for your campsite to get into the spirit of the holidays. Lots of folks decorate their sites with inflatables or lights for the Christmas holidays.

Meet the Panelist: Whitney, Mississippi

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
