We are staying at Fort Wilderness Cabins this summer with our 8/ 6/ 5 year old sons. The pools at the resort have steps into the pool and are not a zero-entrance. I am hoping you can tell me the depth of the pools in the shallow end of the two pools?

Hi Nicole! Fort Wilderness is one of my favorite places to stay and we have enjoyed the cabins on many visits.

With a younger child your better pool will be the main one which is located next to the Bike Barn. This is centrally located within Fort Wilderness and although you can walk you might feel better by hopping on one of the internal buses. If you rent a golf cart during your stay you can also ride over and park right next to the pool.

The reason this pool is best for young children who are learning to swim is because they also have a large splash play area as well as a large "baby" pool. These areas will give any youngster many hours of fun without even venturing into the large pool. The pool is not zero entry but there are large steps that lead down into it giving young children time to get used the water and the depth. The shallow end of the pool is about three feet so all young ones who can't swim would need constant supervision in this pool. The new kiddie area is zero entry and has lots of fun things for the little ones to explore.
