Howdy, Jennifer and welcome to planDisney!
I just love staying at
Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground! It's my favorite Resort at Walt Disney World. I have been staying there since I was a kid in our family's RV and now I tent camp with my own children. There's something so magical about sleeping under the stars and knowing you're so close to
Magic Kingdom Park. I love hearing the train whistle from across the lake.
One thing we must do when we stay at Fort Wilderness is rent a golf cart. Access to cars inside the campground is limited, so having a golf cart to get around makes transportation so much easier and accessible. It's the best to drive around after dark to check out all of the beautiful lights and inflatables that other campers have decorated their campsites with. It's highly recommended to
reserve a golf cart in advance, especially during busy times like the summer. The only way to find out if they are still available for your upcoming vacation and to reserve one is to give the campground a call at (407) 824-2742. On one of our recent vacations, all of the carts were sold out and we were put on a waiting list. We were eventually called to reserve one, so even if they are sold out during your trip, fingers crossed they are still using a waitlist system.
If this is your first visit to Fort Wilderness, you're in for a treat! The vibe is so different than staying in typical hotel accommodations and there's always something fun going on. My kids love playing the pool games in the afternoon and we never miss
Chip 'n' Dale's Campfire Sing-A-Long in the evenings. Bring your own s'mores supplies or purchase a kit from the Chuckwagon Snack Bar. The hot dogs are great too! Stay afterwards to watch the
Movie Under the Stars, which is my daughter's favorite thing to do at every Disney Resort hotel. Bring a blanket and make yourself comfortable.
Please stop back by if you have any additional vacation planning questions.
Have a magical day!
Leslie
